Keeping up on specific facets of car maintenance will also keep you much safer this winter. It is always vital to make sure that your vehicle is fully equipped for the often harsh conditions of the winter season. Doing so can help you to avoid not only accidents, but costly insurance claims as well.
The level of engine oil needs to be right; top it off if you need to. In fact, you need to check all of the fluids in your car, especially as it pertains to your brake fluids, your radiator, your windshield wiper fluid, and your engine coolants. Your tires need to have good tread and the right amount of pressure. As well, all of your lights need to be in good working order, providing better visibility.

Winter is getting here quickly, there is no doubt about that. The inherent weather — snow, sleet, rain, ice — as well as the fact that it gets darker quite early can all make for tricky and down right dangerous driving conditions. So, it is important to do all you can to remain safe on the roads this season.
You need to carry certain things with you in your car, for instance, in addition to all your insurance information, just to be on the safe side. You need items like extra, warm clothing and blankets; scrapers for the windows and de-icers; drinks, most definitely, and any nonperishable food items you can carry; you need a cell phone with a full charge; maps; something — a hat, a vest, a jacket — with high visibility; and plenty of money — cash and at least one credit card.
And, of course, it is always a good idea to have car breakdown insurance, as well as the number you need for it.

Now that we have talked a little bit about some of the things that you can do to prevent a break in … let’s dive a little deeper into this particular topic. Most of the time, car insurance companies are reluctant to actually insure a car that does not have some type of theft security on it – so that is why having a car alarm or even keeping The Club in your car can benefit you.
Another thing that you might want to do is make sure that you do is do not park anywhere it might not be safe. You car is an investment and you do not want that investment to go to waste just because you are parking in a bad part of town. Think about that before you leave your car somewhere.
Finally, always, always make sure that you lock your doors. While criminals have their ways of getting into cars, I can promise that they would rather make it easy on themselves and take a car that is unlocked versus a locked car.

We all know that when you are dealing with theft in the car insurance ring … not all cars insurance companies actually cover theft. However, you can get quite a heavy discount if you do everything in your power to prevent break ins to your car as well as theft to your car.
That is what we are going to talk about in the next few blogs – how you can prevent your car from getting broken into. One of the first things that you need to remember is that if you do not have a car alarm – you should get one. Car alarms, while most of the time, people ignore them, and they have actually saved my car from getting stolen.
Another thing that you want to remember is to shut all of your windows when you are not in the car; this includes your sunroof, as that is an open invitation for someone to get into your car. More tips in the next blog!
